Jewellery was lost at hospital

A PENSIONER is seeking help after losing a sentimental piece of jewellery.

The 75-year-old woman, from Peterlee, lost a gold chain, crucifix and medallion, given to her by her late husband.

The piece went missing in the X-ray department of the walk-in centre at Peterlee Community Hospital, in O’Neill Drive, on June 26.

The woman reported the loss to Peterlee Police.

Pc Rob Mellenthin said: “An elderly patient went into the department and left a piece of jewellery in the changing room, but it has not been found.”

He added: “She is very distressed by it all.

“She is very upset and this has had a major impact on her, as the piece of jewellery is of huge significance to her.”
