JESUS Christ has spoken, predicting a feast of goals and three points for Sunderland at this weekend’s derby clash.

With the Wear-Tyne derby just days away, bookmakers William Hill have offered four local celebrities a £25 correct score bet, with the winnings going to a charity of their choice.

The Echo asked stars from the world of television, music, sport, showbiz and politics for their verdict.

Ben Forster is predicting a 3-2 Sunderland win.

Ben, who won the nation’s heart when he was crowned the winner of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s show Jesus Christ Superstar, said: “It should be pretty exciting if there’s five goals scored.

“I’m looking forward to it and hoping for a Sunderland win of course.

“I’ve got a show on Sunday, but I’ll try to watch it beforehand.”

If Ben wins the bet, the cash will go to Save The Children.

Frankie and the Heartstrings’ frontman Frankie Francis is predicting a 2-1 home win.

He said: “Hopefully, we’ll get to the game. We’re in the recording studio in London at the moment, but we’ll be coming back up for it.

“I’m excited. I’m hoping our new additions can help us win this time.

“I think having all the singers together in the South Stand will be a positive move.”

If Frankie is correct, The Bunker Music Project will receive the winnings.

Having won more than £700 for charity, when she predicted Ballabriggs to win the 2011 Grand National, Sharon Hodgson MP has good betting form and thinks it will be a 2-2 draw.

She said: “I wouldn’t say I was a huge fan, but of course I want Sunderland to win. My heart is saying ‘win’, but my head is telling me ‘draw’.”

If Sharon wins, her winnings will help the Grace House Hospice Appeal.

The last three Sunderland victories over Newcastle, have seen a scoreline of 2-1, so it is no surprise that TV agony aunt Denise Robertson has echoed Frankie’s prediction.

She said: “Obviously, I want Sunderland to win. I won’t be watching the match on Sunday because I’m working, but whenever I get the chance I’ll be down on my knees praying. All of my family will be there. We’ve got to win.”

If Denise is successful, her charity of choice is Sunderland Arthritis Care.

With derby fever reaching boiling point on Wearside, we asked a few more celebrities for their predictions.

Sunderland-born actress, Melanie Hill, said: “I’m thinking 1-0, Fletcher. And I’ll be putting a bet on to that effect. Ha’way the lads.”

Former Black Cats defender, Darren Williams, said: “It has to be 2-1, Sunderland. Fletch to open the scoring. They draw level and then a last-minute strike from Fletch sends the red and white army mad.”

Sleeping Satellite singer Tasmin Archer said: “Derby games are difficult to predict, regardless of form. But I’m hopeful Sunderland have enough at home to seal the victory.”

Frankie and the Heartstrings’ guitarist, Michael McKnight, said: “We’ll get beat 1-0. I’ve had a season ticket for 18 years and only seen us win once. I’d love to see us win, but we always struggle against them.”

Sunderland City Council leader, Paul Watson, said: “We’ve got to be confident. I think Newcastle will score, but we’ll win it 2-1.”

A Love Supreme fanzine editor, Martyn McFadden, said: “I always predict we’ll beat them 2-1, but I’d settle for 7-0.”

The Futureheads bassist, Jaff, said: “2-1, with Fletcher and Johnson scoring for us, and Ba for them.”
