Sherridene Hodder, 25, thrust a glass into the woman's face, which smashed on impact and caused a series of wounds. The 37-year-old victim suffered cuts to her forehead, nose, lip and near her eye in the attack at the New Tavern bar, in Washington, in February and may be scarred for life. She needed stitches to three of the eight lacerations to her face and still needs follow up appointments after being referred to a surgeon.Hodder, of London Avenue, Donwell, Washington, who has previous convictions which include violence, admitted wounding with intent and has been jailed for four years.Judge Robert Adams told her: "You struck her once to the face with the glass. Initially it was clearly unbroken but, judging by the number of injuries, it must have broken on impact and caused serious wounds to her face."It is clear, after a number of months, there is still significant scarring on the face of the victim."This was undoubtedly a very unpleasant series of wounds. Some will leave more serious scarring than others."There will be long term facial scarring. This is to the face of a relatively young woman."This will, I am sure, cause her embarrassment and concern over years to come."The court heard the woman had been innocently chatting to Hodder's ex boyfriend when she was attacked.Julie Clemitson, defending, said Hodder had been out "cheering herself up" after her break-up with that boyfriend.Miss Clemitson said the man's behaviour around Hodder, and towards other women, combined with alcohol, had a "catastrophic" effect on the single mum.Miss Clemitson added: "She is a decent young woman, a caring and kind, responsible young woman, who had an absolute aberration for a matter of moments, on this one night."The consequences are huge for the victim and huge for Miss Hodder."The court heard Hodder, who has a work record and lived with her little girl, has written a letter of apology to her victim.
