WHEN it comes to style is Les Langley Sunderland’s answer to David Beckham?

Les’s stylish dress and general appearance has won him places in the finals of two competitions.

At the age of 46, Les has beaten more than 1,000 entrants to become the oldest finalist in Britain’s Best Groomed Man and is also one of two men in the finals of radio station Sun FMs Most Stylish Mackem award.

The dad-of-three, who used to run Gatsby’s in the city centre, said: “You had to be nominated for the Sun FM awards and my name was put forward by a woman who used to be my wine rep at the bar.

“It is nice to be in the finals.”

Les, an ex-pupil of the former Broadway Comprehensive School, who has also done some modelling and acting, said he heard about Britain’s Best Groomed Man, which is sponsored by men’s grooming products company, Bluebeards Revenge, through his agent.

The Darlington bar owner, said: “My agent told me about the competition because it is also about raising money for male cancer charity, Orchid, so I decided to enter.

“There were more than 1,000 entries and it is now down to the final 30 and I am the oldest finalist.

“This competition is more about grooming, so they are looking at skin and hair I think. I don’t use a lot of products, but I do moisturise.”

Les’s most notable acting parts to date have been a non-speaking role in drama show Vera and a speaking part as a chauffeur in the drama show Inspector George Gently.

He said: “Acting is something I would like to do more of in the future.”
