PAUL Gascoigne remains “committed to his health and well-being,” a spokesman for the former football star has said.

The statement followed publication in The Sun of photographs of the ex-World Cup hero, who used to live in Seaham, at a party in Dubai.

Gascoigne, whose clubs included Newcastle United, Lazio, Rangers and Middlesbrough, has had a well-documented battle with drink and drugs and has undergone stints in rehab.

His agent Matt Jones said: “Paul Gascoigne is currently at home in Dorset, after a week in Newcastle and a trip to Dubai for the England v Ukraine Euro 2012 match.

“Committed to his health and well-being – he works out every day – he has only been drinking soft drinks and non-alcoholic cocktails.”

The newspaper said the pictures, which include the 45-year-old with pool cue chalk on his face, were taken at a hotel where fans were drinking.
