NUFC manager Alan Pardew and former Black Cat-turned-Magpie Jack Colback accepted Ellis Short’s ice bucket nomination.

The pair were filmed at St James’s Park being showered with ice cubes after the SAFC owner challenged them to take part in the phenomenon.

While being drenched, the midfielder spoke to nominate SAFC chief executive Margaret Byrne – perhaps in a nod to the controversy over his departure from the Stadium of Light.

Pardew and Colback were cheered on during the frosty feat by players and coaches at the Tyneside club.

This week Colback, who rose through SAFC’s youth ranks, became the latest Newcastle United player to be called up to the England squad.
