GRAN Sheila Thompson is celebrating today after scooping £25,000 on the People’s Postcode Lottery.
The 62-year-old, from Houghton, said she was shocked when she was presented with the cheque by People’s Postcode Lottery presenter Judie McCourt.
“I can’t believe it,” she said. “I’m not a lucky person.”
Sheila and her husband, Keith, who are both retired, signed up to play after someone they knew won a prize with People’s Postcode Lottery.
The win was like a late present for Sheila, after she celebrated her birthday at the start of this month.
She said: “I have five grandchildren, so I’ll have to make sure they all get a treat. And maybe a treat for myself too.”
A second lucky winner won £50,000 by playing with two tickets, although they were not home to receive their cheque.
People’s Postcode Lottery players have raised more than £49.3million for charities and good causes across the globe.
People’s Postcode Lottery Street Prize presenter Judie McCourt said “I was delighted to present Sheila with her £25,000 cheque.
“I’m sure Sheila and Keith will have fun treating their family, and themselves of course”
