I am grateful for my Muslim neighbours

How saddened I was to see the graffiti on the Mosque near my home in Chester Road.

I have lived here since 1961 and have never seen such vandalism at the Muslims’ place of worship. Hundreds of them visit regularly on Fridays. I only wish I could see my church so well attended. We may get about 20 people on a Sunday morning.

Muslims live and shop around Millfield, regularly, help me across the road, assist me when alighting from the bus and often carry my shopping to the front door. I am grateful. Muslim children returning from school always smile and say ‘Have a good day lady’. I firmly believe in Love Thy Neighbour.
