Roll up, roll up, the circus is heading our way.
Funtastia Circus will welcome audiences of up to 500 people per show when it visits Sunderland from tomorrow.
Its five-day run will see its team of 15 performers work to entertain families with displays which will include foot juggling on the back of a motorbike and the Wheel of Death. The artists and crew will set up next to Sunderland Greyhound Stadium on Newcastle Road as they tour the country.
Ben McManahon, who leads the publicity efforts for the circus, said: “We’ve never been to Sunderland before, so it will be new to the area and we have a new show for 2015.
“Families can expected to see acts from all over the world.
“We’re really looking forward to meeting lots of new people and Sunderland is a big place, so it will be nice to get to know the area.”

This is a circus without animals, but the production features clowns, acrobats, an appearance from Spider-Man and a high wire act. Shows, which have an interval, will take place at 5pm and 7.30pm from Wednesday to Friday, 2pm and 5pm on Saturday and 2pm on Sunday.
A box office will be open on site today from 10am until 8pm.
