Around 200 primary school pupils attended, and took part in a workshop which taught them many different types of skipping, with competitions held throughout the day and scored by their teachers and other staff involved.

The overall winners, who will go through to the final in June, were Easington Lane Primary School.

Dave Brennan, marketing manager at the Dairy Lane school, said: “There were lots of certificates handed out to all the schools at the end of the day so everyone felt like winners.

“Everyone who took part had a fantastic time.”

Easington Lane Primary School was presented with a trophy.
