Methodist Circuit Superintendent the Reverend Alf Waite is now holding a surgery in Trinity Methodist Church, Shiney Row, weekly on Thursdays from 10a to noon for parishioners to discuss any relevant topics.

At the Rotary Club, treasurer John Kerry presented for approval the club accounts for the year ended June 30, which showed £6,041 used from the community service account in support of local bands, schools, senior citizens and other worthy causes. He was thanked by his colleagues for his excellent work. Speaker was member Godfrey Young about common phrases still in regular use and their origins, some of which were most unusual.
