Two clinical finishes by the former St Robert of Newminster School pupil, taking his season’s tally to 18, helped Boro come from a goal down to lead Norwich 4-1 at Carrow Road in a dramatic fifth round tie, backed by excellent strikes from Harry Chapman and Lee Hetherington.

But the Canaries hit back to level at 4-4, taking the tie to extra time, before winning through by the odd goal in nine.

Todd Cantwell, Benny Ashley-Seal, Glenn Middleton and Louis Ramsay netted in normal time, with Cantwell grabbing the sensational winner late in the first period of extra time.

Norwich’s win completes an FA Youth Cup North East double, having comprehensively beaten Sunderland in the fourth round.
