UP to 40 management jobs could be axed as part of a £2million a year cost-cutting exercise.
Union leaders are preparing a response to County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust’s plans to overhaul its management structure.
The changes come after the trust, which runs five sites including University Hospital of North Durham, integrated hospital and community health services earlier this year.
The trust confirmed that the changes could lead to the loss of about 40 jobs, although precise figures have not been published.
A spokesman said: “We are consulting with staff and trade unions on new leadership and management arrangements to streamline operational management, improve efficiency and remove duplication.”
