A DEVELOPMENT of 204 homes could be built in a former pit community.
Persimmon Homes has submitted a planning application to Durham County Council for the scheme in Shotton Colliery.
It would be built on land north of Station Road and east of Salters Lane, including the former Fleming hotel and Bruntons garage sites.
It would be a mix of two, three and four-bedroom houses.
A fifth of the properties would be affordable homes.
