A SOCIAL landlord has carried out a gas or solid-fuel safety check on all of its properties for the second year in a row.
In this financial year there were 7,966 Easington district properties needing a gas or solid-fuel safety check.
East Durham Homes (EDH) and repairs partner Morrison Facilities Services gained access to 6,780 of these on the first appointment.
Everyone who allows an East Durham Homes representative access to their property on the first appointment is entered into the annual prize draw to win up to £1,000 towards their fuel bill.
This year the lucky winners were Mr and Mrs Dinsdale from Seaham.
Jack James, head of neighbourhood services repairs and technical at EDH, said: “We are committed to ensuring our tenants live in a safe environment, and that is why we put great emphasis on completing gas safety and solid-fuel safety checks first time around.
He added: “Thanks to the help and co-operation of our tenants and our repairs partner Morrison Facilities Services we have gained access on the first appointment to over 85 per cent of our properties.
“We have also achieved a 100 per cent success rate for gas and solid-fuel safety checks for the second year in a row, which is a fantastic achievement.”
