A PIPER paid a visit to a nursing home as a new year treat for residents.
Elizabeth Fleming Care Home had organised the special event to celebrate the start of 2012 for its residents.
Nichola Williams, deputy manager at the home, said: “We first had a piper come in last year when a new manager started working here. She had done the same thing at a previous home, so she already knew the piper.
“The man comes in voluntarily and plays the bagpipes for the residents.
“I know all the residents were really looking forward to it. We also put on a buffet to mark the occasion.”
The Hetton care home can accommodate up to 36 residents and cares for people with physical or mental difficulties.
