HISTORY buffs have the chance to go on a tour of Houghton.
A guided walk takes place on Saturday, September 1.
The free event will also take in the restoration and history of Rectory Park, which dates back to 1483 and its links to Reverend James Evans, who was known as the Apostle of the North.
There may also be the chance to stop and enjoy a coffee at the historic St Michael and All Angels, Houghton’s parish church, which is more than 1,000 years old.
The walk leaves at 2pm from the main entrance of Houghton Library and is accessible for wheelchairs.
