Eppleton Cricket Club held their annual junior presentation night on Friday after having another extremely successful season.
Awards were given out to all players for having the most runs, most wickets along with a player of the season and most improved for each age group. The Dukes North East Premier Division club welcomed Yorkshire and England Women’s International cricketer Danielle Hazell to present the awards. Josh Hutchinson claimed the honours for most runs at Under 11s level (521) with a top score of 56* while Jake Pratt picked up the most wickets after bagging 29 including two hat-tricks, two 5 wicket hauls and best figures of 7-1. Callum Smiles took the most runs at Under 13s level (296) while Layla Tipton picked up the Under 13s most wickets award (16). The awards for most runs at Under 15s went to Liam Smiles for scoring 322 runs and Layla Tipton claimed the most wickets award. Braydn Davis hit 194 runs at Under 18s level to claim the Under 18s most runs award with Joe Blacklock picking up 11 wickets to win the Under 18s most wickets award for the second year running. Along with most runs and most wickets the club also gave out special awards for players who had shone throughout the season. Under 11s most improved player went to Ellie McBurnie who scored 60 runs and 11 wickets in her first ever season playing cricket. Under 13s most improved went to Ryan Wardle with Lewis Reay claiming the honours at Under 15s level. Overall most improved Junior player went to Hollie Forsyth who has excelled this season for both Eppleton and Durham ladies county squads. The best newcomer award went to Jye Richardson and Harley Anderson for having an exceptional first season at the club. Under 11s player of the season award went to Jake Pratt for another outstanding season with both bat and ball. Jake had an average of 239.50 being out just twice in seventeen games. Under 13s honours went to Layla Tipton, with Liam Smiles being nominated Under 15s player of the season. Joe Bute was awarded Under 18s player of the season after an excellent season with the bat top scoring with 117 against Whitburn. The last and main award of the night was for the Ken Ferguson Overall player of the season award, which went to Under 13s captain Layla Tipton. Layla has once again proved she is a star in the making leading the runs for all county age groups which included 141 not out against Cumrbia her first of 2 hundreds and 2 fifties. This summer Eppleton Under 11s won the Central Division league, League Cup while the Under 13s won the DCB Bowl Cup. Our Under 13s girls team also were regional winners of the Lady Taveners Cup with the national final being a wash out.

The Hut at Moorsley hosted a Macmillan Biggest Coffee Morning on Friday 25th September and took an amazing £650 for Macmillan Cancer Support. Moorsley & District CA would like to give their thanks to everyone who attended, made a donation or gave their time and efforts towards making this another successful event.
