The members of Herrington WI once again had tremendous support from the local community, fellow WI Federation members, walking groups and the local Townswomen’s Guild for their annual charity coffee morning at St Chad’s Church hall. An extra special thank-you was extended to Morrisons of Doxford Park who donated strawberries, cream, coffee sugar and milk for the event. The chosen charity was the Sunderland Autism Outreach Team, based at Columbia Grange in Washington, which is currently fundraising to open a club hut to be used by the 1,300 children in the city diagnosed with Autism. The Outreach team expressed its gratitude for the work put in by WI members to make the morning so successful. A total of £650 was raised for the charity.
