The Sunderland Prostate Cancer Group is holding a coffee morning at St Chad’s Church Hall on Wednesday, 7th October from 10am-noon. The object of the event is to raise awareness of prostate cancer and campaign for improved local treatment facilities. At the coffee morning clinicians will be in attendance and will make short presentations about prostate cancer. It is recognised that although the cancer is a male issue women play a key role in its identification and the encouragement process towards treatment. The coffee morning is free.
The children’s section at the Herrington village show produced some excellent exhibits. Categories were a Lego model, potato people, pictured, and a painted stone/ pebble. Daniel Smith won a first and second prize. All entrants received gift bags from sponsor Olivers Dental Studio but prize money for two entrants is still uncollected. Madeline Smith along with the entrant who won second prize for the hand painted stone/pebble should contact the show chairman on 5280580.
