Sunderland Civic Society will meet at Age UK. the Bradbury Centre, Stockton Road, on Thursday, May 12, at 6pm. Speaker will be Dan Hattle, Planning Implementation Manager, Planning & Property, talking about planning issues now and in the future. Visitors are welcome to the talk, entrance £1.

Friends of Sunderland Museum (Fosums) will meet on Saturday, May 14, in Sunderland Museum, Burdon Road, at 2pm. Speaker Niall Benson will talk about The Durham Heritage Coast. Visitors are welcome, admission £1.

At Sunderland Maritime Heritage, work is progressing well on the Willdora cabin. All are welcome to go down to have a look. The website was launched last week.

A friendly bridge club is looking for new members, partners not needed. Members meet on Mondays and Wednesdays from 1pm to 4.30pm in the lounge of Beaumont Lodge, Toward Road. For further information, ring 0191 597 1941.

Foyle Street Writers meet weekly in Sunderland City Library on a Thursday from 10am-noon.They share ideas and support fellow creative writers. New members are welcome.

Sunderland Antiquarian Society Archives at the Sunderland Antiquarian and Heritage Centre, 6 Douro Terrace, is open for research on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 9.30am-noon.
