Sunderland Old Township Heritage Society’s faithful attendees attended this year’s Rector Gray memorial service at his graveside in the memorial gardens despite occasional showers. The service was led by Father Andrew of St Ignatius Church. Flowers were provided by Bill Dove, and welcome warm refreshments were served afterwards in Donnison School .
At their AGM last week The Friends of Sunderland Museums elected Ashley Sutherland as their chairman, to replace Elsie Ronald, who was standing down after 10 years in the post.

The next Sunderland University public lecture at the Murray Library Lecture Theatre will be given by Sir Peter Bazalgette, Chairman of Arts Council England, who will speak on Why We Invest Public Money in Arts and Culture tomorrow at 6.30pm.
