Friends Of Sunderland Museums December meeting was an interesting talk by John Grundy about Sunderland Churches. which was followed by afternoon tea.
Sunderland Antiquarian Society’s next meeting at St George’s United Reformed Church, on the corner of Stockton Road and Belvedere Road, will be tonight at 7.30pm. Doors open at 7.15pm. Speaker will be Bernard Hope with a talk on It Really Is a Wonderful Life. Tickets are £1, which includes mulled wine and mince pies, available from Linda King. Car park at Gorse Road (free from 6pm) Civic Centre car park is also close by.

Foyle Street Writers meet weekly at Sunderland City Library on Thursdays from 10am to noon. They share ideas and support fellow creative writers. New are members welcome.
Sunderland Maritime Heritage is open to the public every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10am to 4pm. Admission is free. It is also open on Saturdays especially for children interested in shipbuilding history. Go along to the visitor centre on Church Street East to see the extensive library and large scale replica of HMS Venerable, work recreating a double capstan the like of which has not been seen on Wearside for over 200years. All are welcome.
