Members of Wearside U3A and Fosums will read their favourite poems in Sunderland Museum, Burdon Road, on Thursday from 10am to noon. It will be followed by refreshments.

Hendon History Group will meet on Thursday, November 26, at the Back on the Map Hub in Hendon’s former Carnagie Library at 6.30pm. Eric Waugh will give a talk and presentation about Beamish.

Paint a Poppy workshops are held in Stockton Road United Reformed Church until Sunday. No artistic skill is needed and materials and tuition is provided free.

Foyle Street Writers meet in Sunderland City Library every Thursday from 10am to noon. Members share ideas and support fellow creative writers.

A Toddler Group meets on Tuesdays at Sunderland Minster from 9.30am to 11.30am. Refreshments are available.

Sunderland Antiquarian Society Archives at the Sunderland Antiquarian and Heritage Centre, 6 Douro Terrace, are open for research tomorrow and Saturday from 10am to noon.

Free family tree taster sessions using the Ancestry.com library edition website will be held at the Local Studies Centre, Sunderland City Library, every Tuesday from 2.30pm to 3.30pm.
