Sunderland Pianoforte Society will meet in the Sunderland Pottery Room at Sunderland Museum & Winter Gardens, Burdon, on October 20 at 7.15pm. for a recital by Melbourne pianist and composer Stefan Cassomenos.
A coffee morning will be held in St Aidan’s Church, Grangetown, on Saturday from 10am to noon in aid of Sunderland Armed Forces Network. There will be stalls and a guest speaker. Entry is £1.
Sunderland Maritime Heritage is open to the public every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10am to 4pm. Admission is free. It is also open on Saturdays especially for children interested in shipbuilding history. Go along to the visitor centre on Church Street East.
Sunderland Antiquarian Society’s next meeting will be held in St George’s United Reformed Church, on the corner of Stockton Road and Belvedere Road, on Tuesday, October 20, at 7.30pm. Doors open at 7.15pm. Speaker Trevor Thorne will talk about Sunderland in the 1920s and 1930s. All are welcome. Car park at Gorse Road (free from 6pm) Civic Centre car park is also close by.
Foyle Street Writers will meet in Sunderland City Library tomorrow from 10am to noon. Members share ideas and support fellow creative writers. New members welcome.
