FOOD and grocery businesses have been urged to join an industry campaign to support jobless youngsters.
Washington and Sunderland West MP Sharon Hodgson wants firms to sign up to the Feeding Britain’s Future initiative, from September 17 to 21.
Unemployed young people across the country will go into factories and stores for free skills training, and interview tips to help them find work.
Mrs Hodgson said: “There are more than 1,000 young unemployed people in Washington and Sunderland West, so any help and support from businesses to give them a helping hand to find work is extremely welcome.
“I know Sunderland has some great food and grocery businesses, and this campaign is an opportunity for them to offer important skills training to those who need it most, so I hope as many as possible will sign up.”
