Helicopter crash victim lived in Washington and Boldon

A VICTIM of the North Sea helicopter crash off the Shetland Island hailed from Boldon.

George Allison, 57, lived in the area, and also spent time in Washington.

The oil rig worker, who has been living in Winchester in Hampshire, was one of four people killed in the tragedy on Friday.

Their Super Puma L2 aircraft crashed two miles west of Sumburgh Airport on Scotland’s Shetland Islands as it carried 18 oil rig workers back from the Borgsten Dolphin Platform.

Others who died in the crash were Duncan Munro, 46, from Bishop Auckland, County Durham; Sarah Darnley, 45, from Elgin, and Gary McCrossan, 59, from Inverness.
