A SUNDERLAND GP service will be closed until next week after being affected by a flood.

Park Lane GP Practice will not reopen until May 18, health officials have said.

Mike Prentice, medical director for NHS England Cumbria and the North East, said: “Park Lane GP practice in Sunderland has had to temporarily close due to a flood which happened last week.

“It is expected that the practice will re-open on May 18.

“The GPs and practice nurse are currently providing services from Riverview Health Centre in Hendon.

“Patients who already have a booked appointment are being contacted by the practice directly.

“Patients who are unable to access transport should contact the Park Lane practice on the usual phone number so that appropriate transport can be arranged.

“Alternatively, patients also have the choice of going to the walk-in centre at Bunny Hill or visiting their local pharmacy for advice.”
