A PEER support group for young people with diabetes has been set up.
Richard Lane, president of Diabetes UK, paid a special visit to Chester-le-Street for the official launch.
The group is being organised by 21-year old Chloe Brown, who has Type 1 diabetes.
Up to 19 young people meet once a month in the One Point Hub at Burns Green in Chester-le-Street to share information about diabetes and offer each other emotional support and advice.
Chloe, an education studies and psychology graduate from Langley Moor, said: “We have a peer mentoring group, and it really helps because everyone has diabetes and they can talk about their own experience.”
The group meets from 9.30pm to 11.30pm every second Saturday morning of the month.
