AN award-winning trainer has another title under her belt.
Fitness instructor Katie Bulmer-Cooke beat hundreds of other super-fit hopefuls to be named UK Fitness Professional of the Year 2013, at the FitPro Spring Convention.
The award, handed out during a ceremony held at Loughborough University, recognises the winner’s fitness business as a whole including group sessions and personal training.
Katie, from Ashbrooke, triumphed in the award’s inaugural year.
The 27-year-old said: “I just can’t believe it.
“Over 800 people were nominated and this number was whittled down by a panel of industry royalty to just 33 finalists.
“Then it went down to an online public vote and the six fit pros with the most votes went into the final which was an interview by industry experts.
“I never thought for one moment I would actually win.
“Each time I got through to the next round it seemed more and more like a dream.
“When they called my name and announced me as the winner at the gala dinner, it was just the most surreal but best feeling ever.”
It is not the mother-of-one’s first taste of award success, as last year she was crowned UK’s Personal Trainer of the Year at the International Fitness Showcase.
Katie is now looking forward to another successful year.
She said: “The past 12 months have been absolutely amazing.
“With winning UK Personal Trainer of the Year 2012 and now Fitness Professional of the Year 2013, I’m just in a daze.
“What’s next for me? Well I wouldn’t mind a spot on The Biggest Loser as one of their trainers.”
Last year also saw business success for Katie, after the young businesswoman franchised her Little Black Dress Club workout to trainers across the UK and abroad, including Canada.
The six-week course, which comprises mindset, nutrition and fitness training, is designed for busy mums and career women.
