Heart charity says skipping is the answer

A CHARITY is urging schoolchildren across Wearside to get skipping.

The British Heart Foundation (BHF) says that 82 per cent of seven to 16-year-olds in the North East enjoy playing outside at school, but about six out of 10 don’t own a skipping rope.

The BHF has launched its Jump Rope for Heart campaign, which encourages pupils to have fun while raising funds for the heart charity.

Five million children have taken part in the scheme over the past 25 years. Schools can keep 20 per cent of the funds raised and there is a free skipping kit worth up to £100.
