The fight for fitness has begun, as our five begin to step up to the challenge.
Personal trainer Graham Low has set the task to a selection of our readers as he gives them the chance to revamp their health in the run up to the festive season.
They can join in any of his regular boot camps, which run from his East Coast Fitness base in Seaham Marina, and have each been given a food plan to help them eat the right foods.
Graham, 28, who has previously worked at Seaham Hall and took up the profession after an injury thwarted his football career, said: “They’re doing really good so far.
“They’ve been through their assessment and straight away, I can tell they’re into it and there’s a good foundation to work on.
“They’ve already done their first session, so I’m sure there were some aches the morning after.

“As we go on, the sessions will get harder as they get fitter, so they’ll really see a difference.”
The competitors who have signed up to the challenge are Silke Harvey, 44, a German translator from Seaham, fellow Seaham resident and bride-to-be Dianne Crosby, 49, Seaham Hall receptionist Elena Barrios, 30, also from the town, and mums Julie Shepherd, 35, and Laura Daly.
Graham added: “It’s been good to get going and we’ve had some really good fun and they will find it difficult as it goes on, but they’ll find they progress as they go on.
“I try to design all the sessions so they’re a challenge, so they’ll be different each time and they’ll get further every time, and the harder they try, the more they’ll get out of it.”
