MIDWIVES past and present are being urged to celebrate their job.
To recognise International Day of the Midwife, staff at Sunderland Royal Hospital are holding an event on Tuesday, May 8.
Antenatal and postnatal ward manager Janice Blakey said: “We’re hoping midwives who’ve since retired or moved elsewhere will come back for the day, so we can have a really good get-together.
“It’s also a chance for us to talk about how things have changed over the years. Equipment, techniques and uniform are all different.”
The event is from 3pm in the delivery suit seminar room. Tel. Sheila Ford, 565 6256, ext 41777.
