A CHARITY which helps people with brain injuries is expanding its service.
Headway Durham and Chester-le-Street is reforming as Headway County Durham.
Angela Caulfield, a trustee of the charity, said: “Our aims are to support those with brain injuries, their carers and their families.
“By taking the step to become a charity in our own right, we will be able to increase services we already provide, as well as developing new services to assist members and future members.
“One of our first aims is to increase our regional presence by opening drop-in services at Peterlee, in addition to our existing service at Chester-le-Street.
“This is an exciting time for the charity at a time when the role of charities in the community is becoming increasingly important.”
The new charity was launched before an invited audience at the Royal County Marriott hotel in Durham City.
Headway can be contacted via Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, on 0808 800 2244.
