Paynter has not played since coming off in the FA Cup first-round win over Cheltenham Town in early November with Achilles trouble.

Another to appear on the bench this afternoon was the man who replaced him as skipper, Carl Magnay, until he damaged his groin in the FA Cup second round replay win against Salford City.
