The two-year-old, who died after spending days in an induced coma, will be laid to rest in the town today.

Hundreds are expected to attend the funeral, which is taking place at 1pm at St Joseph's R.C. Church.

Those attending are asked to wear black and white - with a splash of yellow, which was Jacob's favourite colour.

Yellow balloons will also be released in the toddler's honour.

On the day of his death, hundreds of balloons were let go at Seaton Carew seafront in a show of support for little Jacob and his family.

A Go Fund Me page, set up by a family friend while the toddler was in hospital, has raised almost £20,000.

Jacob was at Pizza Hut, at Hartlepool Marina, on October 9 when he choked on a grape. Despite the efforts of first-aiders from both the restaurant and the nearby cinema, Jacob stopped breathing for around 30 minutes.

Paramedics revived him, and he spent five days in an induced coma in Newcastle's Royal Victoria Infirmary (RVI). His parents Abigail and David have thanked the people of Hartlepool, and those further afield, for their prayers, cards, thoughts and donations.

Members of the public are welcome to attend the funeral - but priority must be given to family. If you want to join us and make your own tribute, follow our live updates here.
