Mandy Brown, the owner of Harrison & Brown, took over 8-10 Holmeside last year on 30th September from what used to be Home Interiors. After spending 13 years previously working there, she took the opportunity to purchase the business when it came up for sale.

"It's been a tough learning curve, although I worked closely with the previous owners, taking on the business myself has been an exciting opportunity and I was a bit apprehensive. Now I am much more involved with how the business is structured, dealing with suppliers and seeing the fantastic new furniture that is coming into season, but overall meeting local customers every day and helping them bring their vision to life is what I am truly passionate about."

"We've have worked through some tough times - such as the Beast from the East - during which time we had to put our employees and customers first, either by instructing them to stay home, or allowing them to use the store as a shelter from the cold."

Mandy is truly thankful for the support of the staff who are local to the area for helping run the business and looking after the amazing customers who have also helped Harrison and Brown reach this commemorative occasion.

With 5 floors filled with a variety of products, from beds to wardrobes, sofas to dining and art with a lot of it produced in Britain, customers are bound to find what they are looking for. If you do struggle - speak to Mandy or one of the friendly staff and they'll help you find what you're looking for with their excellent product knowledge. They also understand sometimes people are unsure what will fit or look right in their home so there is a no obligation ‘try before you buy’ where the item will be brought to your home to ensure it fits etc.

Within the store, you will also find Crumb On In, a friendly tea room providing everything from toasties, panini’s, wraps and afternoon tea. whether you're stopping by for a quick bite to eat, or a place to book a meal with friends - they’ll cater for all. On the first floor is also Philip Thursby - a family-owned business that specialises in flooring and fitting - with over 70 years of expertise - as well as curtains.

Right now they are offering up to 50% off across the range of products which will last until the end of October so don't miss out on some fantastic savings. They'll even pay for your parking.

For the future Mandy is looking to maintain the business as the first few years of trading can be tough, with the hopes to grow and employ more local staff, but right now her team of 8 staff is getting prepped for Christmas, one of the most important events in a retailers calendar.
