A hammer-wielding man has robbed a Sunderland bookmakers.

Police are appealing for information after a robbery at a bookmakers in Sunderland.

The robbery happened around 8pm on Saturday, December 10, at Coral Bookmakers in Roker Avenue.

The offender went in to the store and threatened staff with a hammer, he made off with cash.

It's believed the offender made of on a bike towards the Roker coast area and was wearing a black ski mask and padded jacket.

Officers are carrying out inquiries and appealing for witnesses.
