Students at Newcastle, Northumbria, Sunderland and Teesside Universities are competing to win a day of work at the Greggs head office in Newcastle.

To win the day of invaluable experience with the food retailer, the marketing teams must convince a panel of industry experts that they have what it takes to help the company along in its vision.

They will each be tasked with doing a presentation, on "how does the Greggs brand remain relevant across key consumer life stages?"

The event will take place at Newcastle University's Business School next month, and judges for the competition include Roger Whiteside, Greggs CEO, Malcolm Coplans, the company's commercial director and Graeme Nash, head of customer and marketing at Greggs.

Mr Nash said: "Over the three years we have been running the Marketing Challenge we have been hugely impressed by the calibre of work and enthusiasm that the students have brought to their projects, and I’m looking forward to seeing the innovative ideas they come up with this year.

"As a company we recognise the skills, passion and professionalism that graduates bring to their jobs.

"We have a number of graduates working with us currently and our dedicated programme provides them with opportunities to work across the firm, supported by senior leaders, and develop a range of experience that will stand them in good stead to progress throughout their careers.”
