Carers who would welcome some time to relax and share time to socialise and enjoy the company of others in a similar situation are extended a warm invitation to come along to St Nicholas Church hall, Queen Alexandra Road, tomorrow from 10.30am until noon.

Stephanie Clark (0191 5226444), vicar at St Nicholas, will be the lead for a new council-funded project, which sees the church hall being used over the next 12 months as a community connector hub, for people in and around St Michael’s Ward. The next meeting of the Friends of Backhouse Park and Barley Mow Park will take place at the Back on the Map Building (ex-Hendon Branch Library), Villette Road, next Tuesday, March 8, at 7pm.

Blue Watch Youth Centre has begun running sessions for children aged nine to 11 years old on a Wednesday at Stannington Grove Community Centre, from 3.15pm to 5.30pm. St Michael’s Residents’ Association holds its next meeting on Wednesday, March 9, at 6.30pm, at the usual venue, Auckland Homes, Hill View Road.

St Michael’s ward councillors, Michael Dixon, Margaret Forbes and Peter Wood, will hold their next surgery on Wednesday, March 16, in the St Nicholas Church Hall, off Queen Alexandra Road/ Dunelm South, from 10-11am.
