Good Samaritan had her bag snatched as she helped man after fall

A WOMAN had her bag snatched as she went to the aid of a man who had fallen.

The theft happened around 11.05pm on Thursday in Fawcett Street, Sunderland, when woman was at the bus stop and saw a man fall nearby.

She went to help him and left her handbag unattended and it was stolen.

Officers are asking anyone who was in the area and saw anything to contact them.

Neighbourhood Inspector Mick Hall, said: “This was a callous theft, the woman has gone to help someone else and while she has done so her handbag has been stolen.

“If anyone was in Fawcett Street around 11pm on Thursday night we’d like them to get in contact with us as they could help with our enquiries.
