Golfers set to swing into action for charity

GOLFERS are being invited to enjoy a round of golf while raising cash for charity.

City of Durham Lions Club is hosting a day of golf next week at Houghton-le-Spring Golf Club when members are hoping to raise stacks of cash for local charities, including Hartlepool RNLI.

On Wednesday, four ball rounds with a handicap of up to 18 will be played out as golfers battle it out for the top trophy.

The winners will scoop £100 plus trophies, second place will get £50 plus trophies and third place will win £30.

There will also be a prizes for the longest drive, the two nearest pins and a putty competition.

Entry is £15, over-65s £13.
