Glad we live in a country that believes in democracy and free speech

In his letter, Mr Alan Wright states that I wrote, “in the name of democracy we should hold another referendum on leaving the EU”. I did no such thing.

Anyone with the ability to defer their prejudice and read what I actually wrote, will understand that what I was talking about was my right in a free and democratic society to disagree. Mr Wright is obviously is in disagreement with that premis.

Like a lot of moaning Brexiteers any voice against his view is greeted, not with debate or serious view point, but with derision and contempt.

He seems to suggest that if I have a point of view dissimilar to his I am some kind of danger to the democratic political system I hold dear. He writes that I only support democracy and freedom of speech if it suits my debate, nothing could be further from the truth.

He also states that MPs from leave voting areas have been meeting EU officials to discuss overturning the decision to leave the EU. Where does his information come from?

If he has proof please provide it. Or is this yet another lie from a moaning Brexiteer? He brings his letter to an end by using past historical figures of who voted what and when, which I did not.

As I said in my letter decisions are allowed to be overturned, in a country that still believes in democracy and free speech.

I still believe in that.

Does Mr Wright? Or are the only views worthy of respect his?
