Generosity flows as water company makes shoppers' day
Shoppers in Sunderland were surprised with a range of treats as utility firm workers handed out gifts during a campaign aimed at making their day.
Northumbrian Water’s ‘Make My Day’ campaign saw random shoppers at The Bridges in Sunderland given a range of gifts including flowers and vouchers.
It was held during National Customer Service Week this week and was launched to make as many peoples’ days as possible, in as many different ways as possible.
The campaign is aimed to show the water company’s customers how much they care and how important they are to them.
Claire Sharp, Northumbrian Water’s customer service director, said: “We had a fantastic time in Sunderland and it was great to meet and surprise so many of our customers on Wearside.
“Our customers are at the heart of everything we do at Northumbrian water and our make my day campaign was just another way of showing them just how much we care about them and how much they mean to us.”
As well as handing over gifts and trips to random people, the campaign also saw Northumbrian Water employees giving their time to support community projects and give donations.
As part of the campaign staff completed a garden makeover at Newker Primary School, Chester-le-Street.
The company carried out a range of improvemenmt works, creating a seating area, building raised planting beds and putting in a new sandpit.
Workers also painted a shed at the school and re-turfed the garden, before revealing the results of their hard work to the delighted staff and pupils.
