Sunderland Singers will hold their 79th annual concert in Fulwell Methodist Church on Saturday, April 16, at 7.15pm.

On the programme will be international guitarist Jamie McCredie who has played in many prestigious venues as well as with Jools Holland on TV. In 2008 the Sunderland Singers accompanied by Jamie raised £1,000 to help Jamie get proper guitar training. Also on the programme will be soprano Emma Ward. Musical director is Colin Short. Wearside Field Club will meet on Tuesday, April 12, at 7.30pm in Fulwell Community Centre, Chapman Street, Fulwell. Speaker Gary Bankhead will talk about the River Wear. Bookings will be taken for this month’s walk at Whitby and Goathland. The May walk will be at Barnard Castle and Middleton in Teesdale. All are welcome.

Sunderland North Community Business Centre Community will hold activities at Fulwell Mill tomorrow from 1pm-3pm for children aged up to 11. There will be arts and crafts, games, puzzles and outdoor games (weather permitting). On Friday from 10.30am-noon there will be a cookery activity. For these activities, all children must be accompanied by a parent or carer over 18 years of age. Photographs will be taken for evidence and promotional activities. Children must be supervised at all times.

All Saints’ Mothers’ Union will meet in the vestry meeting room at All Saints’ Church on Monday, April 11, at 2pm. The speaker will be Peter Buxton.

There will be an Easter Bunny trail at Monkwearmouth Station Museum each day this week during opening times until Sunday. Can you find the Easter bunnies hopping around the museum?. Find them all to claim a prize sticker. Collect your free trail from museum reception.

A St Peter’s ward surgery will be held at Roker United Reformed Church, Sidecliff Road, on Saturday with councillors Julia Jackson and Barry Curran in attendance.

All Saints’ Church will hold its monthly coffee morning in the vestry meeting room on Saturday from 10am. Everyone is welcome.

Sunderland Philatelic Society will meet in the hall of Roker Methodist Church, on the corner of Roker Park Road and Lonsdale Road, tomorrow at 7pm, for a non Philatelic Night – talks and displays of non philatelic items. For further information, call Fred Greener on 385 2196.

All Saints’ Ladies’ Fellowship will meet in the Vestry meeting room at All Saints’ Church, Fulwell Road, tomorrow at 7.45pm. Speaker will be Cynthia Hudson on Denman Projects. All ladies are welcome.

Pam and Melanie, from Fulwell WI, have taken over three derelict allotments on Shields Road, Sunderland. They are hoping to turn these into community allotments for people who would like to be part of a community and enjoy the outdoor life and gardening. If you would like to help in clearing these allotments and eventually have a piece of land to grow your own produce on the site, contact Pam on 0191 548 4764 or 07920 427982 or Melanie on 07809 434561 to arrange a meeting. The venue is run by Fulwell WI and paid for by charitable donations and events. People who receive plots do not pay for them.

A Fulwell ward surgery will be held in Fulwell Library, Dene Lane, on Saturday from 10.30am-11.30am. One of the ward councillors, Howe or Francis, will be in attendance. Councillor Margaret Beck will not be there.

Balletbefit classes for adults take place in Fulwell Community Centre, Chapman Street (off Sea Road), Fulwell. The sessions are accessible to everyone and suitable for all abilities. There is no need to have previous dance experience. Sessions take place on Sundays from 10.30am-11.30am and Mondays from 7pm-8pm. Work to dance inspired shaping and exercise classes is a hugely enjoyable way to improve strength, grace and poise. Helen Wilson is a Balletbefit Certified instructor. Sunderland Public Libraries offers a home delivery service providing books and audio items to customers who are unable to access a library themselves, either due to age, ill health, disability or long or short term mobility problems.
