Balletbefit adult classes are held in Fulwell Community Centre, Chapman Street, Fulwell. It is suitable for all abilities and there is no need to have previous dance experience. Sessions are held on Sunday mornings from 10.30am-11.30am and Monday evenings from 7pm– 8pm. Work to dance inspired shaping and exercise classes in a hugely enjoyable way to improve strength, grace and poise. Helen Wilson is a Balletbefit certified instructor.

Free summer activities are held in Fulwell Library. This week’s session will be on Wednesday, August 26, from 2pm-3pm when you can make a Tube Sports person. Children under the age of eight must be accompanied by an adult. For further information, contact Fulwell Library on 0191 5615260.

Sainsbury’s Fulwell new charity for the year is Pawz for Thought. A bucket collection and a tombola was held in store and £285 was raised and thanks goes to everyone who donated. The next event will be a big bike ride by the manager and members of the staff on September 13.

Seaburn Men’s Probus Club meets in Roker Methodist, Church at the junction of Lonsdale Road and Roker Park Road, tomorrow at 10am. New members would be very welcome to see what the club has to offer.

Sunderland U3A has vacancies at the moment for people who are retired and looking for an interesting pastime. It offers various subject interest groups with a friendly atmosphere and will welcome new members. Summer holiday fun activities are being held at Monkwearmouth Station Museum. On Thursday make Proggy Mat Pictures from 11am-12.30pm and 1.30pm–3.00pm (drop in). On Monday, August 24, it will be Terrific Trails, which will take place during museum opening hours. Pick up a fun family trail from museum reception to help you explore its collections. neSlimmers classes are held in Chapman Street Community Centre (off Sea Road) every Wednesday at 6pm. Find more details on Facebook at North East Slimmers.

A pre-loved book sale will be held at Sunderland Volunteer Watch House, Pier View, Roker, on Sunday to help with fundraising. The Watch House is open on Sundays for visitors who are welcome from noon-4pm. Admission is free. All libraries are running the Summer Reading Challenge again this year. The theme is Record Breakers. The challenge encourages children to read six books over the school holidays. For further details, contact your local library

The Art of Mining: art celebrating the region’s rich mining heritage is on display at Monkwearmouth Station Museum until November 1.

Fulwell ward surgery will be held in Fulwell Library, Dene Lane, on Saturday from 10.30am–11.30am when one of the ward councillors, Howe or Francis, will be in attendance.
