HOMEOWNERS across the North East are being given a helping hand towards slashing fuel bills.

New Government funding is being offered to homeowners and private landlords towards fitting an air source heat pump, solar thermal hot water system or biomass boiler.

The Department of Energy and Climate Change launched the Renewable Heat Premium Payment Communities Scheme to support the installations of green technologies, to make properties more energy efficient and cheaper to heat.

Now, Community Energy Solutions, which has been installing renewable heating systems for the past six years, is offering to help homeowners access grants.

Grants will be offered for between 50 and 100 community projects, with each receiving up to 40 per cent of the money need for installation.

Successful applicants could also go on to receive an annual income when the full Renewable Heat Incentive is introduced next year. Email enquiries@ces-cic.org.uk or call 0113 237 2720 by August 30.
