Foxes fan cashes out on £100,000 title win bet after Leicester win at Sunderland

A punter has pocketed more than £100,000 after cashing out on his bet that Leicester City would win the Premier League.
The punter who had 20 on Leicester to win the title has cashed out at 108,000, with the Foxes three wins from becoming Premier League champions. The punter who had 20 on Leicester to win the title has cashed out at 108,000, with the Foxes three wins from becoming Premier League champions.

The Sky Bet customer backed the Foxes at 5,000/1 to the tune of £20 each way back on August 18 last year.

After their 2-0 victory over Sunderland at the Stadium of Light at the weekend, which leaves them three wins from the title, he decided now is the time to secure his profit.

The unnamed punter cashed out for £108,703.41. He stood to win just over £133,000 if he had let the original bet ride and Leicester deliver the goods.

Sky Bet's cash-out feature allows punters to collect on bets which could yet go on to lose, and should Leicester stumble, allowing one of their pursuers to secure an unlikely victory, the customer will have made a six-figure sum from what would effectively be a losing bet.

"Backers of Leicester have faced a real head-scratcher over the last few weeks," said Sky Bet's Sandro Di Michele.

"All these 1-0 wins and even their 2-0 win at Sunderland have come with moments of genuine alarm, and I must say bravo to this customer for seeing it through for so long.

"Presumably the punter was keen to make sure they won six figures for their small each-way play, and now that it's job done, they can relax and enjoy the rest of the season."

Leicester are currently 1/5 to win the title with Sky Bet, ahead of Tottenham at 9/2, and Di Michele is preparing to pay out many more customers over the coming weeks.

“It appears this lucky customer really has picked the right moment to cash out,” he added.

“Only last week he rejected a cash-out value of £101,770 after Leicester’s 1-0 win over Southampton”.

Di Michele added: “In January, after Leicester’s 3-0 win over Stoke, the customer could have cashed out for as little as £14,172, and on March 5th, after a 1-0 win away to Watford, he could have cashed out for £76,963, but clearly this Sky Bet customer knew the Foxes were going to keep on winning games."
