Four hurt in car crash

FOUR people were injured after a two-car smash which left one of the vehicles on its roof.

The collision happened on the B1281 in Castle Eden, close to the junction for Hesleden, just before 12.20pm on Saturday and involved an Audi A2 and a Hyundai Getz.

A man and woman in the Audi, which was left on its roof, and two women in the other car managed to get out by the time the emergency services arrived.

The man in the Audi suffered back and shoulder injuries and the woman sustained chest injuries.

One of the women in the Hyundai suffered a chest injury, and the other was left shocked by the accident.

They were taken to hospital for treatment, with the road closed off while investigations were carried out by police.
