A NORTH East football charity is to celebrate talented youngsters at a national art competition.
Show Racism the Red Card (SRtRC), which regularly visits schools and public venues across Sunderland, held its National School Competition to encourage youngsters to produce artwork, creative writing, films and music.
Judges from the group recently met to view entries and chose the winners in eight different categories.
About 600 schools registered to take part and the winners will be invited to a special awards ceremony at Manchester United’s Old Trafford stadium on May 3.
It will feature current and former professional footballers.
SRtRC chief executive Ged Grebby said: “This year looks to be a bumper year for the amount of entries in the competition.
“Entrants in the past have created some truly memorable and inspirational pieces.
“I always look forward to the results of the competition and seeing the young people collect their prizes from top role models.
“To have the 2012 awards ceremony at Old Trafford is an exciting reward for the excellent work of the winners.
